A Few Photos of my House Before and After the Renovations
Visitors have been writing and asking where are my house Before and After pictures.
There are plenty of "before" photos on the photo album page, but I have to admit that when it comes to "after" photos, I've been remiss in this chore! My only excuse is that I'm behind in writing up many parts of this project. (Life has a way of getting in the way, sometimes.)
Without further ado, here are some photos of the exterior:
Two "before" photos, one of the front and one of the rear;
One "in-between" photo;
Several recent "after" photos.
TWO "BEFORE" PICTURES AND ONE "IN-BETWEEN"
My little house, definitely a "Before" shot.
My real estate agent thought I was crazy when I made an offer on this house.
I thought it was worth the $10,000 that I offered, and I still do.
My House Before and After: the front was bad, but the rear was far worse.
A few years (and many tears) later, the house looked like this.
Here you can see the new roof, new siding on the front and rear additions, some new windows... and far too many colours! The scaffolding is going up because the house is going to get painted, at last!
FINALLY, A FEW "AFTER" PICTURES!
No one is happier than I to see these few "after" photos of my green home project.
TOP: The new façade, showing the artwork created and executed by yours truly. Landscaping is scheduled for next year.
MIDDLE: The east side, showing the new main entrance at the side.
BOTTOM: The rear of the house -- compare to the original, above! This part is not quite finished; it still needs a deck and some landscaping.
I'm finally getting around to the backlog of pages, so stay tuned for more pictures on this "House Before and After" page!

...I clicked to your site and found a great wealth of information. I'm about the least tool oriented person there is around, but I'm passionate about many of the topics you write about. And I find the writing to be very well done and informative even for a non-handy person like me. Well done.

Hey! Just wanted to compliment you on your site! I'm a new, first time homeowner, with a dirt crawlspace and have searched for hours on how to set it up.
Living here in Montreal, and the conditions aren't easy on a house and this site sure helped to answer some questions.
Thank you for displaying your work and experience!

BACKGROUND
A few years ago, I bought this fixer-upper for $10,000.
It had been vacant for six years, had no water supply, needed a new roof, and was likely to conceal an unsuspected number of nasty flaws.
My intention was to turn into as "green" as home as I could, within my physical, financial, and geographical limits – and to share this adventure with you, step-by-step and dollar-by-dollar.
